Hotel Roedelius

Wood pallets, plants and various natural materials, 2013.

In the Lichtenberg neighborhood, west of Berlin, we found a square that has gradually deteriorated as a result of the weak sense of belonging among locals.

The relationship between contemplation and participation inherent in creating a garden, was the starting point to approach the local community and propose a number of activities that would strengthen the collective bond with the Roedelius square.

We conducted a workshop to build an insect hotel. Understanding the importance of insects in the ecosystem allowed to reflect on the transcendence of seemingly insignificant social elements.

The project involved the participation of residents of Barrio Lichtenberg, permaculture Lettrari Nino and members of the Coptic community.
